A southwest Lompoc home with a bright Nativity scene in its yard and a colorful winter wonderland in its garage was selected as the overall winner of this year’s citywide Holiday Decoration Contest.

Judging for the contest, which is organized each year by the Lompoc Beautification and Appearance Commission, took place Monday night. The organization revealed the top three winners Tuesday morning.

The home at 412 S. Sage St. took the grand prize of $50 as the top winner. Along with the aforementioned highlights, the home also features icicle-style lights hanging from the edges of its roof, colorful lights throughout its walkway and yard and a fully decorated Christmas tree near the front door.

The $25 second- and third-place prizes went to homes at 1041 N. Poppy St. and 809 Almond Ave., respectively.

There were 11 residential honorable mentions. Those included homes at:

  • 405 E. Fir Ave.
  • 621 N. Tenth St.
  • 303 South H St.
  • 239 South D St.
  • 417 N. Seventh St.
  • 816 North L St.
  • 900 Cagney Way
  • 214 South D St.
  • 510 North F St.
  • 420 Lavender Way
  • 1628 W. Cherry Ave.

This was the 22nd year of the contest, which is held each December.
