Community members with opposing views on a revised Measure U sales tax, which will be voted on this November, debated the need for passing the measure during a public forum Thursday at the Betteravia Government Center. The forum — which was organized by the League of Women Voters of Santa Maria Valley — was designed to help residents make informed decisions on the revised Measure U when they vote on Nov. 6. Other sponsors of the forum included the Fund for Santa Barbara, the Santa Maria Times, the Area Agency on Aging and the Santa Maria-Lompoc NAACP.
