The Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department will host the MLB Pitch, Hit & Run and Junior Home Run Derby baseball skills competitions from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at Oakley Park. 

Children between the ages of 7 and 14 (as of July 17, 2021) will show off their pitching, hitting, and base-running abilities in the Pitch, Hit & Run competition, where they will be judged on accuracy, distance and speed. 

In the Junior Home Run Derby, sluggers will be given 10 pitches from a pitching machine to hit as many home runs as they can. Boys and girls compete together in the Junior Home Run Derby, however there will be separate pitching distances available for 12U and 14U divisions. 

Top performers from each competition advance to sectional competitions at a future date. Preregistration is required and can be completed online:
