Santa Maria’s 805 Baseball Club 9U team went 4-0 to win the championship of the 12-team Arroyo Grande Summer Slam Tournament on Sunday, Aug. 5.

805 opened the tournament Saturday with a 22-2 victory over the Sanger Apaches and followed that with a 16-4 victory over the Clovis-based CS Bears.

In Sunday’s semifinal game, 805 rolled past Fresno’s DC Baseball Club 10-2.

In the championship game, 805’s offense exploded once again in a 13-1 victory over the Bakersfield Combat in a game that was called after three innings because of the run rule.

805’s Ashton Bluem was named the rournament MVP.

This was the second straight year 805 won its age division at the Summer Slam.

805 opened its 2018 season by winning the championship of the Santa Barbara Tournament on Sunday, July 24.
