The Bulldogs are getting ready for their next game.

And it will be a home game when Hancock hosts Southwestern College’s Jaguars in the Southern California Football Association's American Championship Bowl on Saturday.

The game will be played at Santa Maria High School’s Ralph Baldiviez Stadium with kickoff set for 4 p.m.

The Bulldogs won their first outright conference title in 20 years, finishing at 5-0 in the American Pacific League (8-2 overall).

On Saturday, Southwestern met San Diego Mesa for the American Mountain League title. Both teams were 4-0 in conference going into the game. Southwestern won 19-14 to improve to 8-2 overall and 5-0 in the league.

San Diego Mesa also got a bowl invite. They’ll meet Santa Ana in the Southern California Bowl.

Hancock has played in 16 previous bowl games and posted a record of 4-12, including a 1-6 mark under head coach Kris Dutra.

The American Championship bowl showdown will be the first-ever meeting between Hancock and Southwestern.

Tickets will cost $12 for general admission, $8 for Hancock faculty, staff and students, seniors (people over the age of 60); and children under the age of 12.

Playoff games scheduled for Friday, Saturday

There will be a pair of CIF Southern Section playoffs football games this weekend in the Santa Maria Valley, to go along with Hancock's bowl game.

Santa Maria is scheduled to host top-seeded Montebello Schurr in the quarterfinals of the Division 12 playoffs. Kickoff has been moved up to 7 p.m. Friday night at Baldiviez Stadium.

On Saturday, Orcutt Academy is scheduled to take on top-ranked Canoga Park Faith Baptist in the 8-man football playoffs. That Division 1 semifinal game is slated to be held at Pioneer Valley, with kickoff tentatively scheduled for 6:30 p.m. 

Lompoc's CIF-SS Division 3 quarterfinal game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. kickoff at El Toro High School in Lake Forest.

St. Joseph's Division 5 quarterfinal at top-seeded Lancaster Paraclete will kickoff at 7 p.m. as well.
