Two men die after boats collide on western Arizona waterway

LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. (AP) — Two men are dead after a boating accident in western Arizona at the mouth of the Colorado River, authorities said Saturday.

Multiple agencies near the Arizona-California border responded to reports of two boats colliding late Friday near Lake Havasu City, the Mohave County Sheriff's Office said. Divers pulled two men out of the water who had suffered severe injuries.

The sheriff's office said medical personnel began treating them aboard another boat but weren't able to save them. They were pronounced dead at the scene. Their names weren't released.

A third man was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, the sheriff's office said.

The investigation is ongoing. Authorities said it's unclear if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision.
