Critter Corner: Well our critters are at least a bit happier now that the rain has stopped. They can run around and find all the food they want and not have that pesky wet stuff bothering them. They are out in droves and eating as fast as they can to make up for lost time. It's nice to see them happy.

Blacklake Gyro's Day at the Races: Well, we went, and so did many who were disappointed because the horses didn't run! We were all there between raindrops, but they said they would not run the horses because they might get injured. We had lunch, but no races. I was happy they did not race the horses as I would not have wanted any of them to get hurt. We'll have to wait until next year and pray for no rain so we can see the horses and the races.

On a sad note: Char Larsen, a longtime Blacklake resident, has passed away. They lived in the Fairways for many years and both she and Bill participated in many of the events that went on at Blacklake. We will let you know when the memorial services will take place.

Health and Hope in Your Hands: This event will be taking pace on Saturday, April 14, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Hilton Garden Inn Conference Center located at 1201 North H Street in Lompoc. Complimentary gourmet refreshments will be served. Seats are going fast so please register ASAP by calling (805) 219-4673. This is one event you will not want to miss.

On a interesting note, Santa Maria Times Managing Editor Marga Cooley will be speaking on ways to identify fake news. This will take place on Saturday, April 21, at the Santa Maria Public Library. The event is hosted by the American Association of University Women (AAUW). I do hope some of you will make it there to see and hear her. The cost is $8 per person, and will include light refreshments. Advance reservations are required.
