Critter Corner: Our little stay-at-home birds seem to be filling up on as much seed as they can and are having a grand old time. We still have little mama and little miss around, they come most nights and look for their grapes, but things are very quiet here and all seems to be well.

Central Coast New Tech High School will be hosting their annual Salon Night on Thursday, Nov. 30. They will be attempting to engage the community on issues in our government and teach the kids how to discuss things in a civil manner. All of this takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Pavilion at Cypress Ridge. Sounds like a winner to me. Hope you all consider it.

Nipomo Newcomers and Social Club will be holding lawn bowling at 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov.17, and Bridge at 1 p.m. at the Blacklake community center. We know you are all getting ready for the big bird day next week so just thought if you were looking for a few more things to do, you can call Barbara Ward at 773-3352 or Diane Jankowski at 343-9069 for additional information, or to join the club.

Yoga Classes at Blacklake will take place at Backlake club house on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Cost is $5 per person. I am told the class is lots of fun and very invigorating.

Carpinteria Holiday Fair will take place on Friday, Nov. 25 at Carpinteria Valley Museum of History. This is always a fun one to attend, a little bit of a jaunt but well worth it, and if you're returning from your Thanksgiving feasting it is worth the trip. For additional information call (805) 684-3112 or,

Christmas in Nipomo will take place this year on Dec. 16. Remember, Santa will be riding through Olde Towne tossing out candy canes and make his way to St. Joseph's Church Hall where there will be treats, holiday story telling, ornament making, and more. You can tell Santa what you want for Christmas (the little ones that is). There will be hot dogs for the kiddies and other treats. Stay tuned for more information on this exciting and festive event.

We do wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving. Don't overdo, as we all tend to do that day. It is a day of family, friends, and lots of yummy treats and goodies to eat. I know I always say I am not going to eat too much, but I do.
