If I worked for Caltrans, I certainly wouldn’t let anyone know it.
Their flimsy excuses for refusing to allow an Orcutt veteran’s organization to erect a memorial to the military services is absurd. At different times their reasons ran from calling the endeavor a political statement, to saying it would be a distraction to motorists on the highway.
How can a memorial to our men and women in the service be a political statement? At the location proposed by the proponents the structure and flag can hardly be seen from the highway.
It makes me ill to see the lack of respect shown to the men and women who are risking their lives to protect us, and for the flag, the symbol of freedom and liberty of our great country.
