A Santa Maria man was arrested this week on suspicion of running a marijuana growing and selling operation in the city, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department announced today.
Jesse Adam Delacruz, 41, was arrested Tuesday at his place of employment after detectives served search warrants at a warehouse Delacruz leased in the 500 block of West Betteravia Road and at his home in the 1000 block of Cortez Drive.
While searching the warehouse, detectives found more than 800 live marijuana plants along with more than six pounds of processed marijuana and an illegal short barrel shotgun, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
Detectives also reportedly found items purchased with illegal drug sale profits, including a 2004 Dodge Viper, electronic items and 12 paintings by artist Thomas Kinkade. The paintings were worth more than $30,000.
Delacruz has since posted bail and been released from jail.
Sheriff’s officials said they waited to announce Delacruz’s arrest until a follow-up investigation by detectives was complete.
