A film about a hotshot crew that died fighting a fire in Arizona will be screened Thursday, Oct. 19, in Buellton to benefit both the family of a U.S. Forest Service battalion chief who died in a car crash in August and the Wildland Firefighter Foundation.

“Only the Brave,” which tells the story of the 19 members of the Granite Mountain Hotshots who died trying to save the little Arizona town of Yarnell, will be screened at 7 p.m. at the Parks Plaza Theatre after an event at Figueroa Mountain Brewing Co. that will also raise funds for the cause.

The screening — a day before the film’s nationwide release — was arranged by Santa Ynez Valley resident Tammy Misner, mother of Sean Misner, one of the 19 members of the Granite Mountain Hotshots who were overrun by flames on June 30, 2013.
