Construction is nearing completion on Lowe's Home Improvement and Costco Wholesale at Enos Ranch.
The stores then will be prepared, employees hired and shelves stocked.
“The latest date I have for Lowe's opening is Oct. 17,” said Santa Maria Community Development Director Chuen Ng. “The building will be turned over to the tenants some time before then and they will take time to train and stock shelves.”
Ng isn’t sure when Costco and its gas pumps will be open, “but they are on a similar time frame.”
Developers hoped to have both stores open by now, but winter rains slowed progress.
"The rain delayed their time schedule a little bit," Ng said. "But they have been pretty diligent. They have done a pretty good job sticking to their timeline.”
Crews on the west side of Bradley Road are making progress on those projects.
“Buffalo Wild Wings is pretty much done,” Ng said. “The next building you see will be home to Urbane Café and Xfinity.”
Construction will soon ramp up on the large multi-tenant building that will be home to Dick’s Sporting Goods, Old Navy and Petco.
That portion of the Enos Ranch center is expected to be completed by January.
City leaders and Enos Ranch developers are currently talking about the planned auto sales portion of the development.
No agreements have been signed yet, but Ng said the city is hoping the development will attract new automobile retailers.
Construction on the residential portion of the development, Easton Plaza Apartments by the Towbes Group, could start at anytime, he said.
Once work on the apartment complex gets underway, a new city park will be built around the Enos family farmhouse, which will be preserved as a historical attraction.
