The Stuart C. Gildred Family YMCA in Santa Ynez will hold an open house from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday to give Valley residents an opportunity to check out the facilities, meet staff members and find out about the programs offered.

Those who join the YMCA during the open house can do so for free, and there are no contacts to sign, said Ayres Mitchell, membership director for the Channel Islands YMCA.

Those who join anytime during the month of January will pay $20.18, Mitchell said.

Normally, there is a $50 registration fee for new members.

Monthly membership fees are $34 for ages 12 to 18, $62 for ages 19 to 65, $55 for ages 66 and older, $89 for a two-person family and $101 for a family of two adults and all dependents age 24 and younger living in the home.

Joining the YMCA entitles members to full use of the facility and specialty fitness equipment, free orientations and/or an eight-week program with a total health coach to help set and achieve goals, programs to improve health and well-being for all ages and abilities.

Membership also includes free group exercise and spinning classes, reduced fees for youth sports, swim lessons, healthy living programs, birthday parties and camp, child care while using the facilities and access to YMCAs in other areas.
