Anyone at any fitness level can take advantage of the services at the third business to open at Santa Maria’s Skyway Center Plaza.
On Tuesday afternoon, the Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce helped the owners of Evinco Strength & Conditioning celebrate their grand opening with a ribbon cutting at the new shopping center near the intersection of Skyway Drive and Highway 135.
Owners Alexandra Klein and Shawn Torres, said their new fitness business is based on the CrossFit training model.
“CrossFit is for all age groups and all fitness levels,” Torres said.
The high-intensity program incorporates elements from several sports and types of exercise.
Torres, a Santa Maria native, said the duo opened their the business in Santa Maria to fill what they thought was a void of the CrossFit brand training option.
“When I started to do CrossFit, I had to drive to Grover Beach every day. I noticed they were everywhere around but Santa Maria. We wanted to bring it here so people didn’t have to leave the area,” Torres said.
Evinco Strength & Conditioning is open from Monday through Saturday and offers a variety of workout opportunities.
“We have multiple methods to get your heart rate up while making sure you are being safe and effective for your body,” Klein said.
The center has scheduled open gym times along with coordinated classes and boot camps.
It also offers pregnancy and postpartum fitness options.
“We can adjust things for any level. I went through two pregnancies with CrossFit,” Klein said. “It’s just adjusting things accordingly.”
The new business is also home to a weightlifting club.
Evinco Strength & Conditioning has multiple membership and payments options, too: a drop-in daily rate of $20, a punch-card membership program with 10 sessions for $170 and an unlimited one-year prepay membership of $1,250.
