Meighan Dietenhofer

Meighan Dietenhofer has been hired by 3rd District Supervisor Joan Hartmann to serve as her office's Mid-County District representative.

She is replacing Elizabeth Farnam, who retired last week, and will focus on constituent services and community partnerships in the Solvang, Buellton, Santa Ynez, Los Olivos and Los Alamos areas.

Dietenhofer has worked for more than 20 years in private environmental consulting, for UCSB at the Sedgwick Reserve and for Santa Barbara County at both the Flood Control District and the Water Agency, said a spokesman for Hartmann’s office.

She most recently served as a commissioner representing the 3rd District on the County Riding and Hiking Trails Advisory Committee and the County Park Commission.

“I am ecstatic that Ms. Dietenhofer is joining our staff,” Hartmann said. “She has diverse experience and deep roots in the Santa Ynez Valley, and I feel very fortunate to bring her skills and knowledge to our team.”

Dietenhofer holds a bachelor of science degree in biology from the University of Puget Sound and a master’s degree in water resources management from the Bren School of Environmental Science and Management at UC Santa Barbara.

She was born and raised as a third-generation resident of Santa Ynez Valley, where she and her husband are now raising their two children and she volunteers at the children’s school.

The 3rd Supervisorial District is the geographically largest and most diverse district in Santa Barbara County, spanning the area from UCSB and Isla Vista up the Gaviota Coast into Santa Ynez Valley and on to Vandenberg Village and Guadalupe.

In addition to the office at 1745 Mission Drive in Solvang, Hartmann maintains offices in the Joseph Centeno Betteravia Government Center at 511 E. Lakeside Parkway in Santa Maria and the County Administrative Building at 105 E. Anapamu St. in Santa Barbara.
