Cruzin' for Life made its largest donation ever to the Marian Regional Medical Center Foundation on Wednesday with a check for $130,000 in support of Marian Cancer Care at the Mission Hope Cancer Center.

"It's absolutely incredible that Cruzin' for Life is able to raise these kinds of funds to support our patients and community, particularly patients that are going through a really hard time during cancer treatment," said Kerin Mase, Marian’s chief operating officer.

"We can't thank them enough. They really are very dedicated to serving the needs of our community."

Cruzin' for Life is a local organization that raises funds to fight cancer, especially through its well-known annual car show and cruise in September.

It also makes donations to the American Cancer Society and Make-A-Wish Tri-Counties.

The funds from this donation represent 70 percent of the cumulative proceeds raised at this year's 12th annual Cruzin' for Life Car Show and Cruise.

The organization has donated $781,300 to Marian Cancer Care since 2006. The donations go toward medical care but also support services needed to help patients beat the disease.

"The relationship with Cruzin' for Life is a partnership," Mase said. "It's bigger than just a hospital and people. It's coming together, a relationship that offers long-term commitment to knowing that we can count on them to provide funds to support our patients in need."
