One man was stabbed and another was arrested as the result of a fight among several people Friday morning in Tanglewood, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a fight about 11:15 a.m. in the 3500 block of Madrone Court, where witnesses described seeing several men with weapons fighting with another man in the street.
By the time deputies arrived, the combatants had fled, but an investigation revealed the individuals all were familiar with each other and the fight was the result of a verbal dispute, sheriff’s Sgt. Daniel Calderon said.
Deputies located the 39-year-old victim, whose name was not released, and discovered he had been stabbed. He was transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, Calderon said.
They also located the suspect, Raul Gonzalez, 40 of Santa Maria, who was armed with a blunt object during the altercation.
He was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail, with bail set at $30,000.
Calderon said the circumstances surrounding the stabbing are under investigation and asked anyone with information about the incident to call the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division at 805-681-4150.
