The Santa Maria Police Department is searching for an unidentified suspect in connection to an armed robbery that occurred this morning at the Little Caesars Pizza on South Broadway.
Investigators are asking members of the public for leads in identifying the suspect but warn not to approach him as he may be armed and dangerous.
At 9:06 a.m., while employees of the restaurant at 2120 S. Broadway were preparing to open the store, a man entered, brandished a handgun and demanded money, according to Santa Maria Police.
The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing through the back door of the business.
The man is described as a 25- to 40-year-old Hispanic male with a dark complexion.
He was wearing a dark-colored jacket, grey hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled over his head, dark-colored pants and dark shoes, according to officials.
“The suspect fled through the back exit of the store and continued on foot north through the alley adjacent to Target," Sgt. Nathan Totorica said. "He then exited the alleyway and ran north on McClelland. His path of travel after that point is unknown.”
Anyone with information is urged to call Detective Andrew Brice at 928-3781.
