Lompoc Police are investigating the death of a woman early Saturday as a homicide, the city's first of the year, and have the victim's boyfriend, William Delgado, 42, of Lompoc, in custody.
The woman has not been identified.
At about 1:19 a.m. Saturday morning, authorities received a call from a man stating that his mother was injured and not breathing. When officials arrived at the residence in the 100 block of South C Street, they found a 47-year-old woman, face down, with major injuries to her face. Officials said she was not breathing and was pronounced dead at the scene.
At about 2:27 a.m., Delgado was seen driving near the victim's residence while officials were on scene. He was stopped without further incident and taken into custody.
Officers learned the suspect was the victim's boyfriend and is on probation through Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS Proposition 47). He is on probation from Riverside County but is listed with an address in Lompoc.
Delgado was booked into the Lompoc City Jail on a murder charge, and the investigation is ongoing.
