Charges have been filed against a father and son stemming from an alleged shooting last Thursday at an apartment complex on North Bradley Road that resulted in two victims being hospitalized.

Just before 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Santa Maria Police responded to a report of multiple shots fired in the 800 block of North Bradley and Rose Place. When officials arrived, they found two unidentified adult males suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Both father and son were arrested in the hours after the alleged shooting.  

Robert David Ruiz Sr. was charged with two felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon.

Robert David Ruiz Jr. was charged with two felony counts of attempted murder and two felony counts of assault with a firearm. The defendant is additionally alleged to have personally and intentionally discharged a firearm causing great bodily injury.

Both defendants have entered pleas of not guilty, according to the  Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office.

The case is scheduled for a preliminary hearing setting Oct. 2 at Santa Maria Superior Court's Department 7.
