3 arrested at DUI, license checkpoint
Four drivers were evaluated for driving under the influence and three of them were arrested Saturday night in the 600 block of West Main Street during a DUI and driver’s license checkpoint conducted by the Santa Maria Police Department.
Two other drivers were cited for driving while unlicensed and three vehicles were impounded. Of the three impounded vehicles, two were driven by undocumented immigrants, police said Sunday.

From 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday, 515 vehicles passed through the checkpoint and 112 were screened. The operation had been planned to go until 1 a.m., but it was cut off at 10 p.m. because of bad weather, police said.
