Detectives from the Lompoc Police Department conducted compliance checks on 27 convicted sex offenders last week and found that all were in compliance with their terms and conditions of registration.
The compliance check, performed Oct. 1, was one of several that the department performs throughout the year to ensure that all of the city’s current 69 registered sex offenders are adhering to the terms and conditions of their registration requirements. Those that are found to not be in compliance could face criminal charges and arrest.
Convicted sex offenders are typically required to register with local law enforcement each year. The only exception to this is if the convicted sex offender is transient. In that case, the offender is required to register every month. Sex registrants are also required to notify the police department within five working days if they change addresses.
