Altrusa Club of Central Coast Foundation Inc. has awarded $30,000 in grants to organizations in Santa Maria, Lompoc and Santa Barbara.
The grants help assist the groups in furthering their work in the surrounding communities.
The recipients were: Alice Shaw School Friendship Garden, Angels Bearing Gifts, Animal Lovers Club of Righetti High School, Boys and Girls Club Stem Robotics, CASA, Family Service Agency, Pioneer Valley High School FFA, Righetti FFA, Santa Maria High School FFA, Foodbank, Friends of the Orcutt Library, Genspan, Jimenez Elementary School, Harvest Community Center, Natural History Museum, Royal Family Kids Camps, Sanchez Elementary Science Camp, Senior Volunteer Services, Santa Maria Discovery Museum, Santa Maria Library Foundation, Santa Maria Philharmonic Society, Santa Maria Swim Club Scholarships, Teddy Bear Cancer, Valley Haven Adult Daycare Program and Wonheart.
The Altrusa Club of the Central Coast Foundation Inc. main fundraiser is Festival of Trees, which funds the grants. The foundation is a nonprofit and operates to support senior citizens, food programs, art programs, libraries and youth at risk.
The volunteer board members are Melinda Aguirre, president; Lupe Maldonado-Alvarado, vice President; Bea Goyette, secretary; and Barbara Giachetto, treasurer. Directors are Richard Giachetto, Dayna Debernardi-Watson, Joyce Ellen Lippman and John D. Moore.
