The cities that make up North Carolina’s Triangle Area are booming urban areas filled with businesses, family-filled neighborhoods, large shopping centers, and uniquely blended cultures.  They also offer many entertainment venues and various fun-filled activities. This is especially true when it comes to pet friendly things to do in the Triangle area.  The main cities, including Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill, provide parks, hiking trails, lakes, breweries, restaurants, and excursions that welcome people - and their pets!

Raleigh, NC

The capital city of Raleigh is a rapidly growing area in the heart of North Carolina.  Dog lovers choose to bring their pooches with them to many places here, as there are just so many dog friendly things to see and do!  You can try a Yoga class with your furkid, take a tour of the beautiful grounds at the North Carolina Museum of Art, visit a dog friendly brewery, have a picnic or take a walk at one of the many parks, or wander through and explore the popular Raleigh Rose Garden.  You might even enjoy visiting a local lake for some kayaking, canoeing, or paddle boarding with your pup!  Whatever activities and adventures you’re into, you can try them in Raleigh, and usually with your pet right by your side!

Durham, NC

The unique “Bull City” of Durham is home to many popular attractions, with a lot of them welcoming four-legged family members.  On any given day, you can see people walking around the beautiful Duke University campus with their pets, and strolling through the gorgeous Duke Botanical Gardens.  There are many cafes and coffee shops with outdoor seating in Durham, for people and their four-legged sidekicks to enjoy a bite to eat together. There’s even a local bakery that caters to dogs!  Additionally, Durham should definitely be at the top of the list for those who love to visit breweries. Many of these welcome leashed dogs indoors with their pet parents, and they also have outdoor beer gardens and patios where pups are welcome.

Chapel Hill, NC

The town of Chapel Hill has a great “college town” vibe, with lots of people constantly out and about in the area.  Many of the locals here, as well as the visitors, find that their pets are greeted and warmly welcomed just as much as they are!  This eclectic town, known as the “Southern Part of Heaven” offers many heavenly places for dogs, such as parks and trails, pet friendly restaurants, and shops.  There are plenty of breweries where you can sit indoors or outside with your pooch and relax with a cold local brew.  Additionally, downtown Franklin Street is a treat in itself, with so many unique stores for window shopping and numerous festivals taking place throughout the year.

DEAR ABBY: I need some help. A terrible car accident happened in front of my house a few months ago that resulted in the death of a husband and father. The family comes out every Sunday to place flowers at the accident site, which is my front yard. At first, I had no problem with them expressing their grief and tried to console the widow every time I saw her. The problem is, she has gradually added to the area a memorial stone, an angel statue, vases and some of her husband's belongings. My front yard is beginning to look like a graveyard -- a tacky one.

DEAR ABBY: My husband and I are friendly with two other couples whose children are friends with ours. We live in a fairly small community, and the couples met and began socializing because my husband and I introduced them. It started out with board game nights, progressed to potlucks and holiday events, then eventually a three-family summer vacation. Everyone seemed to get along fine.
