Are you washing your hands correctly?
There are two effective ways to rid your hands of flu viruses, bacteria, germs and other microbes. Here's a look at your options.
Lather hands well with soap under warm running water.
Rub hands together vigorously for 20 seconds; scrub back of hands, wrists, fingers, under nails; rinse well.
Dry hands with clean towel; use towel to turn off faucet and grab doorknob on exiting to avoid recontamination.
Use when soap and water are not available; must be at least 60 percent alcohol to be effective.
Use at least a half-teaspoon to coat both hands.
Rub hands vigorously at least 30 seconds; if sanitizer dries before then, use more and repeat.
Non-soap sanitization is not effective if hands are visibly dirty; use soap and water first.
