Robert W. 'Bob' Donnelly, 89 of Santa Maria, California formerly of Nipomo, California, died Friday, January 25, 2019, at home. Bob is now with his Lord in Heaven, tending his beautiful roses and wonderful vegetable gardens. Bob was born June 23, 1929, in Falmouth, Massachusetts, the youngest of two children. He went to school in Falmouth and later received his degree in industrial engineering from Northeastern University in 1952.
Bob always loved roses and he had beautiful rose gardens at his homes in Granada Hills, California and later in Nipomo, California. He also enjoyed fresh home grown vegetables and took great pride in sharing his bounty. Another great love was traveling and he and Elaine took several cruises in different parts around the world. They also went back to Massachusetts and Maine many times over the years. Throughout his life he was very active in the Presbyterian church in Granada Hills, serving as a deacon, an elder, and on the church school board. He and his wife, Elaine were also active members of the Mariners couples group at church. After moving to Nipomo, they became members of the Nipomo Community Church.
Bob is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Elaine, of Santa Maria, children Ellen (Larry) Ralston of Firestone, CO, and Rob (Teresa) Donnelly of Oceanside, CA, six grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Dorothy, and his sister, Dorothy.
A memorial service will be held 11am, Tuesday, February 19, at Nipomo Community Presbyterian Church, 1235 N. Thompson Road, Nipomo, CA. A luncheon will follow in Fox Hall at the church.
