On July 7th, 2018; Robert Ferrel Cowell was called home to heaven. Robert was affectionately known to all who knew him as Butch. Butch was born in Santa Maria, California on October 31, 1946. He was fortunate to be raised by such a close-nit-family and loving parents.
Butch had many stories to share. He was a veteran who served in the Army, National Guard, and Volunteer Fire Department. During his time in the Army he was stationed in Korea and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. He was a roofer by trade and owned a business in Santa Maria called Butch's Roofing.
Butch was an artist, fisherman, collector, and intellect. He enjoyed hunting for arrowheads and rocks. He would tell stories of how the Chumash Indians lived and used arrowheads and tools.
Butch is survived by his daughter Adriana Cowell, 10 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson, sister Suzanna, and brother-in-law Michael Folk.
He is proceeded in death by his father Vincent J. Galvan, mother Aurora F. Galvan, brother Raymond F. Galvan, and daughter Aurora M. Cowell.
There will be a grave side service held at the Santa Maria Cemetery at 10:30 am Tuesday, July 17th, 2018 followed by a Celebration of Life at Eagles Hall 668 S. College Drive, Santa Maria.
