Kathleen (Rabska) Walker, 97, passed away on July 3, 2018, after a short illness. Kay was born in Rouse, Colorado, in September 1920, and was the eldest child of John and Erna Rabska. She married Buford (Boots) Walker on July 14, 1940, who preceded her in death in 1997.
Boots and Kay moved from Santa Maria to Arroyo Grande in 1957. Kay served as Boots' receptionist/bookkeeper for the B.E. Walker Plumbing & Heating business which they operated for over 30 years.
Kay was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend. Non-judgmental and always offering unconditional love.
She will always be remembered for her warm, welcoming and comforting hugs, sense of humor, beautiful cursive handwriting, cards and special witty sayings she sent for every occasion to family and friends, and her “yummy” cooking and recipes. Kay was an avid reader and loved her Bunco gals, playing cards and board games, lace hankies and satin pillowcases. She will long be remembered and cherished by all those whose lives she so lovingly touched.
She was also an active member of the First United Methodist Church for many years.
Kay was preceded in death by her beloved husband, her parents, two brothers and a sister. She is survived by her three daughters and their husbands: Michele Dear (Ken) of Antioch, CA; Patti Willis (Mel) of Santa Maria, CA; and Nancy Vilkitis (James) of Minden, NV; five grandchildren and their spouses; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law (Mary Lou Rabska); and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Arroyo Grande Cemetery on September 6, 2018, which would have been Kay's 98th birthday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Central Coast Hospice, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, or the Smile Train.
A very special thank you to Central Coast Hospice (Tiffany, Ronna and Leslie) for their tender and supportive care.
Arrangements are under the direction of Marshall-Spoo Sunset Funeral Chapel in Grover Beach.
