Earl Thomas Jensen was born in Santa Maria, CA, December 28, 1929, to Charles and Laila Jensen. He attended grammar and high school in Santa Maria and worked as a rancher from 1944 to late 1950 when he joined the Army National Guard then reenlisted in the regular Army, serving in Occupied Japan and Korea. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for his service.

In 1956, Earl married Dianna Burritt, immediately becoming a father to 22 month old Sharon and 4 ½ month old Bobby. In October 1957, Earl and Dianna welcomed their daughter Kim to the family. They family lived in Atascadero where Earl worked as a Psychiatric Technician at Atascadero State Hospital. In 1965, Earl transferred as a Psych Tech to Agnews State Hospital in San Jose, later becoming the Locksmith.

In 1985, Dianna passed away and in 1986, Earl purchased his “retirement ranch” in Angels Camp where he resided part time until he retired and moved there in 1992. In 1997, he married Ruth Russell and became stepdad to 7 more adult children, 6 sons and 1 daughter. They lived in Sacramento, Paradise and finally settled in Magalia in 2017. Sadly, the recent Camp Fire in Paradise destroyed their home.

Four days before the fire, Earl fell and broke his hip and his health began to slowly decline. He enjoyed celebrating the holidays and his 89th birthday in a health care facility with his family but on New Year's Day his health took a turn and on the evening on January 4th, 2019, Earl took his final breath and peacefully passed away.

Earl is survived by his wife Ruth Jensen; son Bob Jensen, Sr.; daughters Sharon Jensen & Kim Brusseau (Gary); stepsons Jim (Diane) & Gary (Kathy) Wells; Mike (Kathe), Russ (Nettie), Doug (Daralee), Steve (Dusty) Russell; stepdaughter Terri (Mike) Cole; his beloved dog Annie; nephews Jerry & Harold Jensen and niece Janelle (Jim) Murman; 41 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Robert, Carl Sr. and Dorothy Jensen, previous wife Dianna Jensen, stepson Bobby Russell, and nephews Tom, Raymond, Carl Jr. and Jim Jensen.
