Donna J Franklin, of Santa Maria, CA passed away at the young age of 79 on July 15, 2021. She was born on June 23, 1942, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to David and Helen Delaney.
Donna and her family moved to Santa Maria, CA in 1945 where she attended grade school and graduated from Santa Maria High School. She continued with her education at Allan Hancock College and then began a career with AJ Diani as his secretary. As time passed Donna realized her true passion was to become a business owner herself, that is when she bought Margie's Children Shop in Pismo Beach, CA. Donna spent many years running this business and took joy in providing quality clothing for children. Later she closed the children's shop and turned the building into a commercial real estate property which she has leased to numerous businesses during the years. Donna loved to travel with her late husband Richard “Dick” Franklin where they enjoyed the love of fine dining and the best wine. She became involved with several local wine and dinner groups, making many lasting friendships. Donna was always the life of the party and if there was music playing you could always find her on the dance floor. She will be missed greatly by all that knew and loved her.
Survivors include her brother David Delaney, her sister Susan Wilson, son Dean Guzman of Paso Robles and his wife Carol, her son George Guzman of Santa Maria and his wife Brenda, her grandsons Dean Guzman and Justin Guzman, her granddaughter Alyssa Guzman along with three great grandchildren. Donna is preceded in death by her parents and her husband Richard “Dick” Franklin who she married in 1979.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Central Coast Hospice, especially her nurse Donna for her great care and support during the last year along with Dorothy and her wonderful caregivers at Queja Residential Care Home.
A celebration of life will be held on August 1, 2021, starting at 12:00 p.m. located at Summit Club at Rice Ranch, 1112 Sage Crest Dr., Orcutt, CA. A private service will be held at a later date for the family at Santa Maria Cemetery.
