Long Time Santa Maria Resident, Darlus Gaye (Hamm) Gage Rios has passed from mortality on January 30, 2019.
Gaye was born on June 1st ,1936 to loving parents, Joseph F. Hamm and Laura K (Carty) Hamm. She was the fifth of eight children. She and her brothers, Eugene, Dallas, and Clayton, and sisters, Dora, Jonnie, Glenda and Bernice were close throughout their lives. Gaye was born in Seaboard, Virginia and raised in Dungannon, Virginia.
Gaye is survived by her children, Danita Ann McDonald, (John), David Allen Gage, (Raquel). Her step- children; Harold Rios Jr., (Eileen), Dorie Perry, (Jim).
Sitting around with her brothers and sisters laughing and telling stories of their childhood in Dungannon was something she enjoyed greatly. Eugene Hamm, (Lydia), Dora Ruth Faughender, Dallas Hamm, (Carolyn), Jonnie Lou Donars, and Glenda Edmonds (Ben) are still living and mourn her passing.
She loved her grandchildren dearly and delighted in their accomplishments, attending many recitals, sports events, spelling bees and plays. Her grandchildren are: Jolena Gaye Windsor (John), Courtney McDonald, Tyler McDonald, Joshua Gage (Stephanie), Tami Lodes (Lance), Toni Lane (Larry), Jimmy Perry & Suzette Perry. Great-Grandchildren; Cela Jo Windsor, Dagan Windsor, Broden Windsor, Rigdon Windsor, Elora Windsor, Brendan Gage, Justin Lodes, Kevin Lodes, Alison Lodes, Craig Lodes, Jeffrey Lane, Jennifer Lane, Cheyenne Perry & Austin Perry. Great-Great Grandchild; Khloe Lodes. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Gaye made many life long friends as she worked for Lockheed and then enjoyed her job at the City of Santa Maria in the Public Works department, retiring from the city after many years of service. She enjoyed camping and crafting but mostly spending time with friends and family. She had an open-door policy for all who entered her home. She leaves this world a better place because she was in it. With a beautiful twinkle in her blue eyes, she possessed abundant patience, compassion, and devotion to family.
Joining in welcoming her through eternity's gate are her beloved parents, sister Bernice Meade, brother Clayton Hamm, husband Harold Rios Sr and countless others who have loved and adored her.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 8th, 2019, at Dudley-Hoffman Mortuary, located at 1003 E Stowell Rd., Santa Maria, CA. Starting with the viewing at noon, with the service after. Interment will follow at the Santa Maria Cemetery.
