Brue Coker, 69, resident of Bakersfield, CA passed away December 24th, 2018. Bruce was born in Dowagiac MI to MaryAnn and Jewell Coker. He was their first of six children. Bruce was 13 years old when his parents loaded up the family station wagon and moved him and his siblings to California. Eventually settling in Santa Maria, Bruce attended Righetti High School where he met his sweetheart Sheila Lynn Brewer. They married when Bruce was 20 and had three children that they raised in Santa Maria. Bruce attended two years of community college and then became an electrician. He worked for several companies and was a union member of Local EBEW. When Bruce lost his wife in 2012, He met and then married his angel Doreen. They were together 5 ½ years until his passing.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents MaryAnn and Jewell Coker, his sister Vickie Stewart, and his first love Sheila Coker. Bruce is survived by his second wife Doreen Coker and his children; daughter Lisa Coker, daughter Christine Malach and her husband Anthony, son Jason Coker and his wife Christie and his grandchildren whom he enjoyed and loved very much; MacKenzie, T.J., Daniel, Zoie, Ivy, and Tate. He is also survived by his siblings; Mike Coker, Cindy Crow, Gloria Secker, and Janice Delaney as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
In lieu of a service the family has asked Brother Cecil White to say a few words and a prayer for the family at an internment on Friday, February 15th at 2:30 PM at the Santa Maria Cemetery with a reception to follow.
