Barbara Ann Ramirez, born on July 17, 1963, of Orcutt, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, November 3, 2017. She was surrounded by family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Gilbert and Lupe Ramirez, of Nipomo, and a sister Alice Escobedo (Ramirez) of Nipomo. She is survived by her husband Mike Stickler, four brothers, and two sisters; Edward and Gilbert (Rosemary), both of San Diego, Andrew (Patty Sue) of Creston, Christopher of Nipomo, Virginia of Santa Maria, and Teresa of Nipomo. She is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, grand-nephews and grand-nieces, and her loving dog Coco.
Barbara was the proud and active owner of GLR Construction in Orcutt for twelve years and was an active member of the community. She was a participant in various local organizations including the American Legion Auxiliary and the Santa Maria Elks. Barbara had a big heart and loved helping others. She considered her employees and all those she touched as family. She had a passion for life, always seeking new adventures, and spending time with loved ones.
A fearless fighter until the end of her multi-year battle with cancer, Barbara will be missed by many. A celebration of life will be held in her memory on Thursday, November 16 at the Santa Maria Elks Lodge at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the cancer organization of your choice.
