Nipomo freshman Devin Diaz finished third in the Novice race, running the nearly 5K course in 17 minutes, 45 seconds at the Morro Bay Invitational Cross Country event Saturday.

"It was a standout performance by him for getting third place in a very large, very competitive novice race," said Nipomo coach Arianne Rollinger.

Nipomo senior Rogelio Flores finished 13th in the Boys Varsity race. Places for teammates Garrett Morgan and Joe Gocke were not available.

Nipomo junior Mackenzie Wisneski finished 27th in the Girls Varsity race. Junior teammate Flor Hernandez finished 42nd.


Sean Morley and Mari Perez led Righetti's boys and girls teams respectively. Places for the Warriors were unavailable.

Morley ran 16:38. Perez ran 22:11.

Teammates following Morley were Michael Soares (17:03), Rogelio Felix (17:23), Zack Pincin (17:51) and Jesus Garcia (19:31).

Teammates following Perez were Erika Robles (22:12), Virginia Vehill (23:10), Neida Bernal (23:29) and Megan Fitzmaurice (23:57). 

Orcutt Academy

Freshman Mackenzie Webb finished 18th, in 23:46, in the Girls Junior Varsity race.

Danny Ordonez led Orcutt Academy's varsity boys. He finished 44th in 17:42. Teammates Robert Spencer (57th place), Brance Sharp (74th), Jose Sanchez (77th) and Lorenzo Papworth (95th).

Orcutt's Talia Mata finished in 39th place in the Girls Varsity race. Teammate Valerie Winyuwongse followed in 77th.
