* SURF...VERY LARGE DAMAGING WAVES 18 TO 22 FEET WITH LOCAL SETS TO 25 FEET WILL BEGIN TO SUBSIDE LATER TODAY. WHILE SURF IS EXPECTED TO SUBSIDE BELOW WARNING LEVELS THIS EVENING, HIGH SURF ADVISORY CONDITIONS WILL LIKELY PERSIST INTO SATURDAY. THE HIGHEST SURF WILL BE ON WEST AND NORTHWEST FACING BEACHES.

* COASTAL FLOODING...HIGH TIDES OF 6.5 TO 7 FEET AT 7 AM THIS MORNING WILL COINCIDE WITH THE HIGH SURF. MODERATE COASTAL FLOODING WITH SIGNIFICANT BEACH EROSION IS LIKELY TODAY. IN ADDITION, DANGEROUS BREAKING WAVES ARE LIKELY ACROSS THE MORRO BAY HARBOR ENTRANCE.

* IMPACTS...THERE IS AN INCREASED RISK FOR OCEAN DROWNING. RIP CURRENTS CAN PULL SWIMMERS AND SURFERS OUT TO SEA. LARGE BREAKING WAVES CAN CAUSE INJURY...WASH PEOPLE OFF BEACHES AND ROCKS...AND CAPSIZE SMALL BOATS NEAR SHORE. MODERATE COASTAL FLOODING IS POSSIBLE OVER LOW-LYING COASTAL AREAS INCLUDING BEACHES, BEACH PARKING LOTS AND HARBOR WALKWAYS, AND WITH VULNERABLE COASTAL ROADWAYS DURING THE HIGHEST SURF AND TIDES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY INDICATES THAT SURF AND TIDES WILL COMBINE TO GENERATE FLOODING OF LOW AREAS ALONG THE SHORE.

A HIGH SURF WARNING INDICATES THAT DANGEROUS...BATTERING WAVES WILL POUND THE SHORELINE. THIS WILL RESULT IN LIFE-THREATENING CONDITIONS. SWIM NEAR A LIFEGUARD. IF CAUGHT IN A RIP CURRENT, RELAX AND FLOAT. DON'T SWIM AGAINST THE CURRENT. IF ABLE, SWIM IN A DIRECTION FOLLOWING THE SHORELINE. IF UNABLE TO ESCAPE, FACE THE SHORE AND CALL OR WAVE FOR HELP.
