Pastor’s Corner
Know Your Bible

Hello everyone, I’m Jerry Scheidbach, pastor
of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Santa Maria.
God has invited us to know Him, and that is the
greatest honor man can know (Jeremiah 9:24).
Imagine a bride to be who cares nothing for the
love letters of her beloved. Imagine dearest friends
parted by thousands of miles carelessly ignoring a
letter received from their friend. Imagine children
separated from their parents caring nothing for a
letter from home. Imagine all of these and you can
understand why it’s so hard to imagine a Christian
who cares nothing for the Word of God; His love
letter to His bride; His warm and friendly letter to
His friends; His loving paternal letter to His children.
Every sincere Christian wants to know the LORD
The Bible is a book about God and His relationship
with His creation. It tells us who God is; it even tells
us His name. It tells us about Him; the way He is,
the way He behaves and feels. It tells us about His
wonderful acts and glorious feats; His creation, the
creature’s rebellion and the Saviour’s redemption.
It tells us about the future of this planet and its
God’s Word is not an ordinary book. The Bible is
alive (Hebrews 4:12), it is the breath of God (2
Timothy 3:16), and the breath of God is His spirit
(John 20:22; 2 Peter 1:21). This is why Jesus said,
“Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word
that procedeth out of the mouth of God” (Matthew
4:4). The Holy Spirit and the Word of God are
inseparable. For this reason, the Bible, unlike any
other book in the world, is received and discerned
only by the Spirit (1Corinthians 2:14-15). Therefore,
first we must have the Spirit Dwelling in our bodies
as His temple (Romans 8:9; 1Corinthians 3:17; 6:19).
We are given this precious gift when we are saved
(Acts 2:38-39; Romans 10:9-13). So open a King
James Bible and get to know your Creator, He wants
to know you.

On behalf of all Pastor’s here in the Santa
Maria Community, we would like to wish all
Mother’s a very Happy Mother’s Day.
