Help Us Celebrate Our Students of the Month Abigail Doremus is the SYVUHS Student of the Month for March and the recipient of a $100 scholarship from Kelly Hunziker. Abigail is the daughter of Daniel and Neely Doremus and sister to Breeann and Sophie.Abigail is a high honors roll student. She is a member of NHS, CSF and Student Senate. She currently is the President of the FFA Chapter. Outside of school, Abigail enjoys raising livestock for the County Fair, walking her dog and listening to music.Abigail’s plan for the future is to attend Chico State University and study agriculture (animal science and crop production). Benjamin Blacker is the SYVUHS Student of the Month for April and the recipient of a $100 scholarship from Kelly Hunziker. Benjamin is the son of Lindsey and Jeremy Blacker and brother to Joel, Noah and Jacob. Benjamin is a member of Pirates with Hearts, Youth and Government, National Honors Society. He is ASB Senior Class President, Captain of the Varsity Soccer team. He was awarded First Team All League and Most Valuable Player. He attended the Global Leadership Conference and received the Ambassador Scholarship, Santa Barbara Leadership Award. Outside of school, Benjamin enjoys playing soccer; he has been a part of two club teams. He also likes to go to Haiti where he gets the opportunity to work alongside local doctors and get hands on experience in a variety of surgical procedures.While in Haiti he helps his mother with her facility for the elderly and helps at the local orphanage. Benjamin’s future plans are to attend a four year university next year and study BioEngineering. After graduating college he wants to attend Medical School and then do a residency in order to become an orthopedic surgeon. Becoming a doctor has been a dream of Benjamin’s since the age of 10, after getting into a serious accident. Gabriella Saxon is the SYVUHS Student of the Month for May and the recipient of a $100 scholarship from Kelly Hunziker. Gabriella is the daughter of Sarah Holtz and sister to Christian, Ashley and Savannah. Gabriella is a member of the Theatre Group, FFA, Culinary Cure Club, Gay Straight Alliance, National Honor Society, California Scholarship Federation and Student Senate. Outside of school, Gabriella enjoys music, singing, playing guitar and hanging out with friends. Gabriella’s plans for the future are to attend Chico State University in the fall of 2019, where she will study theatre with the hopes of becoming a stage manager or director some day. BE MOVED.
