Spartans selling car wash cards
The Orcutt Academy Spartans boys basketball teams is selling cards that are good for one $10 wash at the Splash N'Dash Car Wash.
Money raised will go to help both the Spartans' varsity and junior varsity basketball teams.
The team is selling 400 car wash cards that can be used at any of the three area Splash N'Dash locations — one in Orcutt and two in Santa Maria.
Cards can be purchased from any Orcutt Academy basketball player.

Cabrillo hosting 'Salute to Service' night
Cabrillo High School will be holding a 'Salute to Service' night at its home football game against Templeton on Friday, Sept. 15.
All active military personnel, military veterans, police and fire personnel will be admitted free of charge with a current active ID card or if arriving in uniform.
The JV team kicks off the action beginning at 4 p.m. followed by the varsity kickoff at 7 p.m.
Branquinho steer wrestling clinic
Five-time world steer wrestling champion Luke Branquinho is holding a steer wrestling clinic Nov. 20-21 at the Branquinhos Los Alamos ranch.
The cost is $300 for high school students, $200 for junior high students and $375 for everyone else.

Orcutt American Little League is holding its annual board member election on Thursday, Sept. 21, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Joe Nightingale Elementary School cafeteria.

The 38th annual Santa Maria Valley YMCA "Fun"Raiser Golf Tournament will be held on Friday, Sept. 29, at the Santa Maria Country Club.
Check-in begins at 11:30 a.m. with the tournament teeing off with a shotgun start at 12 p.m.
The annual helicopter golf ball drop is scheduled for 5 p.m. and will be followed by the awards dinner and a live auction.
The entry fee is $175 per player. The entry fee includes one golf ball that will be entered in the helicopter drop.
Additional golf balls for the drop can be purchased for $25.
Dinner tickets are being sold for $30 for those people who don't want to play in the tournament.
