Just about every week I've been talking about Dino Maldonado nearly being perfect. St. Joseph's senior QB has had several nearly flawless performances this year.

For instance, against SLO he went 12 for 14 for nearly 300 yards and 4 TDs.

However, Maldonado wasn't nearly flawless against Cabrillo last week. He WAS perfect.

Maldonado completed 11 of 11 passes for 300 yards and 6 TDs. On the year, Maldonado has 137 of 191 passes for 2,007 yards, 22 TDs and just 5 INTs. He's also rushed for 5 TDs and 193 yards on 43 attempts.

So, clearly, Maldonado is up once again for the SMT Player of the Week award.

But he has some stiff competition.

His teammate and running back Jayden Vargas had an incredibly efficient game, carrying the ball just 14 times for 214 yards and a score in the Knights' 77-10 win over Cabrillo.

Santa Ynez QB Dusty Gregg was just about perfect too. In a 54-0 win over Morro Bay, Gregg threw for 7 TDs and 352 yards on 15 for 19 passing.

His top receiver, Gabe Prendergast set two school records in the game, with 4 TDs and 185 yards, breaking the career receiving yardage record and single-game TD mark.

Next up we have a stable of running backs.

Orcutt Academy's Eddie Lundberg topped the 100-yard mark in the Spartans' 57-10 win over ACE.

Toa Taua recovered from an early fumble to rack up 138 yards and 2 TDs on 11 carries. Both his TD runs were things of beauty, spinning and stiff-arming his way into the end zone on 30-plus yard runs.

Damien Robles was effective against a ragged SLO defense, topping 140 yards and racking up a pair of TDs in the Warriors' 27-7 PAC 5 League win.
