At the AAU Cross Country Nationals in Charlotte, N.C. on Saturday, Los Alamos native Devyn Kendrick finished with a time that made her the 15th fastest 13-year-old in the nation.
Kendrick competed among a field of a 170 of the top runners in the county and earned a medal and All-American status.
Kendrick trained by running 5 to 7 miles a day, five days a week. She's a seventh-grade student at Olga Reed School in Los Alamos and has been competing in 5K and 10K races to prepare for the AAU Cross Country Nationals.
Previously, Kendrick won the Los Alamos 5K in the female division with a time of 19 minutes, 8 seconds; she was first in the Los Olivos Platinum 5K at 18:37; she won the Paso Robles 5K in the female division and she was first in her female division at the Griffith Park 5K in Los Angeles.
