The Braves continued their strong play in the LPL by besting the Saints by 43 shots on Monday at Marshalia Ranch.
Kendal Martin won the individual medal with a 52. All four of the other scorers for Lompoc broke 60 in the 274-317 win: Destiny Goggins 54, Danielle Morgan 55, Rylee Sager 55 and Martinez Mendez 58.
Santa Maria golfers Amalia Ramirez (55) and Maritza Reyes (65) had personal best scores. Jessica Estevez 64, Wendy Hernandez 64 and Graciela Santiago 69 completed the scoring for the Saints.
Despite the loss, Santa Maria coach Jay Cheney said he was happy with the improvement his team has been showing of late.
"Even though we lost today, this was one of the best outings for our girls of the season," Cheney wrote in an email. "Marshallia plays really tough and the girls posted their best score of the year out there."
Cheney was also left impressed by the play of the Braves.
"Lompoc is among the league leaders and fighting for a league title," he said. "I was proud of how our girls hung in there with them. We were more competitive with them than the final score.
"A couple of our more experienced girls really battled but towards the bottom of the lineup Lompoc's depth clearly showed through. I'm really pleased with Amalia's progress this year and Maritza joined the team late and she's really taking to the game. Both had personal bests today."
