Patrick Laird is back.

After missing his Cal team's win against Washington State, the Mission Prep graduate returned to action against Arizona.

Cal lost 45-44 in overtime, but Laird almost ran the Bears to a win. He ran for 130 yards and scored two touchdowns.

Laird lugged the ball 28 times.

The former walk-on remains the 4-3 Bears' leading rusher. Laird has 93 carries and has run for 530 yards. He is averaging 75.71 yards a game. Laird has seven rushing touchdowns.

Cal won its first three, lost three straight and has beaten Washington State and lost to Arizona since.

The Bears, who are 1-4 in the Pac-12 North Division, will play at Pac-12 South member Colorado Saturday.

Jose Morales

The former Lompoc High School and Hancock College star has missed just two PAT tries for a Humboldt State team that is averaging 46.55 points a game.

The 6-1 Lumberjacks are ranked No. 18 in NCAA Division II and have beaten two ranked teams this year.

Humboldt State is 5-1 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. The Lumberjacks will play a GNAC game at Burnaby, British Columbia-based Simon Frasier Saturday.

Garrett Owens

After kicking three field goals in as many tries in Iowa State's upset of then No. 3 Oklahoma, the former Arroyo Grande star has gone 2-for-4 on field goal tries since.

Owens, who transferred to Iowa State from Oregon State, is 9-for-12 on field goals for the year.

Iowa State (5-2, 3-1) will host Big 12 rival Texas Christian University Saturday. TCU is 7-0, 4-0.

Curry Parham

The quarterback, who played at St. Joseph and then Hancock College, ran for a 43-yard touchdown in Tabor College's 41-20 Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference win over Kansas Wesleyan Saturday.

Parham was 6-for-11 passing for 67 yards. Tabor is 5-2, 5-1. The Bluejays will play at Friends College at 10 a.m. PST Saturday.

Parham helped the Bluejays win the conference championship last season.

Lavon Coleman

The former Lompoc High star has limited carries for 6-1 University of Washington, though he remains the second-leading rusher on the team behind standout Myles Gaskin.

Coleman has carried the ball 42 times and gained 200 yards. He has rushed for two touchdowns. Gaskin has rushed for 626 yards and eight touchdowns. He is averaging 89.4 yards a game.

Washington will host UCLA at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in a Pac-12 North game.

Conor Regan

The former Righetti star quarterback got the start for Northern Colorado Saturday, throwing for two touchdowns in a home loss to Montana State.

Regan, who also played at Ventura College, completed 13 of 29 passes for two touchdowns and no interceptions in the 27-24 loss.

On the season, Regan has completed 23 of 58 passes for 344 yards and three touchdowns against just one interception.
