Mier misses mark for CIF state golf tournament
At the SCGA golf course in Temecula, Righetti junior Makayla Mier failed to qualify for the state tournament, shooting an 80 and missing the playoff by seven strokes at the WSCGA championship, Monday.
According to head coach Tracy Davis, Mier started off slowly during the first few holes until she finally got in a rhythm against the best high school golfers in all of Southern California.
“She wasn’t feeling really well,” Davis said. “She had a couple bogeys to start and then settled in and started shooting par golf.”
Mier ends her successful junior season with the PAC-7 MVP award, while leading her team to the leaugue championship.
“She knew she could do better, but she’s happy with how she finished, it was a good round and experience,” Davis said.
