TODAY'S OPINIONS

Final chapter of love affair with petroleumTry, if you will, to visualize the world financial markets as a playground seesaw. On a day when the price of a barrel of crude oil falls a couple of bucks, the Dow Jones industrial average rises a couple of hundred dollars. Slamming the door on property rightsWhen I was a kid, much of the South County was still being farmed. Nowadays, the area is one piece of urban sprawl. Like other areas of Southern California, it is difficult to discern where one town ends and another begins.

Flag treatment is shameful I was absolutely disgusted recently by what I saw. I was at our local DMV office fixing another one of their mistakes when I noticed our American flag crumpled into a ball on the top step of a small ladder, where people step. I think this is shameful, and someone should answer for this, especially in this so-called All America City. Robert Chetwood Orcutt
