A free tri-tip barbecue, prepared by Pat Dalton, will be provided to those in attendance.
Thanksgiving dinner will be served to community Sunday
The sixth annual Paul Teixeira Nipomo Community Thanksgiving will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Joseph's Parish, 298 S. Thompson Ave.
Various nonprofit groups in Nipomo come together each year to provide a home-cooked meal for community members. This year, organizers are preparing food for approximately 1,000.
The Paul Teixeira Nipomo Community Thanksgiving was started by Teixeira, a San Luis Obispo County supervisor who died in 2013, and Deb Geaslen in 2011. It was Teixeira's vision that a community Thanksgiving event would provide an opportunity for friends and family from all walks of life to gather, said an event organizer.
The event has grown each year since its inception.
