Losing hope for America

The best way to kick up the job market is to get rid of the environmentalists and progressives who have strangled this state.

Start drilling for oil and bring California back to a world leader in production of every commodity we once had.

Progressives want us living in caves and cooking over wood fires. Environmentalists want to take us back to the Stone Age. Who is more important, the people or some small fish, a small rodent, a salamander or some irritable weed?

Americans are being put out of their homes and going homeless because of these people. It is time to outlaw these types in our country. The last time I looked, communists were our enemies, and now were have them leading our governments at all levels.

America runs on oil today as much as it did when Jimmy Carter made it a product we should hate. Drill now or watch California and the United States go into bankruptcy. If that happens, you will see our miserable government sell off states to China and Mexico to settle our debts.

Well said, Ed. But the thing is all tied up in politics, as usual, the politics of "strangulation," as it were.

One thing still holds; we cannot survive without oil. I have not even seen a convincing explanation from anyone about where oil comes from, let alone whether we are really going to "run out" of it or not.

Why we are not drilling and using our own oil more, why we are not opening new refineries, why we are not curtailing our use of foreign oil, are questions that all Americans should be asking themselves.

There is a huge wealth transfer taking place to foreign oil-producing countries, from us to them. I don't think that is wise. California could go a long way to solving its budget problems by drilling right here.

However, I would like to see some fiscal sanity and thrift in our state before we start drilling right and left. I would hate to see our politicians throw away increased tax revenues on the "moral hazard" of more and more social programs for illegal aliens and other boondoggles, thereby wasting once more the taxpayers' hard earned dollars and putting them in jeopardy all over again.

The answer is consumption, not production. We have limited natural resources and unless you are willing to accept the extinction of the human race those resources need to be conserved.

Our country is in trouble because of our greedy, irresponsible Congress, including Lois Capps. How are people with no financial background, who can't even read a Balance Sheet, going to lead us out of the recession they put us in?

But the real question is "What will it take for the people of this county to stop sitting on their hands and get involved in saving our country?" www.uipusa.com
