The Byrne family kids' new favorite holiday is Veterans Day, when they set up their lemonade stand for wounded warriors.

Mackenzie, 10, Taylor, 7, and Hunter, 3, hoped to beat last year's total of $1,000. On Friday, their mother, Jennifer, said they were well on their way, after selling baked goods and more than 10 gallons of lemonade to the Orcutt community.

Last year, the sisters wanted to have a lemonade stand on their Veterans Day school holiday, so their parents encouraged them to research an organization for veterans. They chose the Wounded Warrior Project in San Diego, which will receive 100 percent of the proceeds.
