Members of the Lompoc community honored and paid tribute to servicemen and women from throughout U.S. history with a special Veterans Day lunch and dance Saturday at the Lompoc Elks Lodge.

The midday event included meals — free for veterans — and live music performed by the Rip Tide Big Band. There were also displays of military memorabilia during the festive celebration, which was open to the public.

Earlier Saturday, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1717 held a Veterans Day ceremony at the Lompoc Veterans Memorial Building.
