Santa Maria-based KCOY-TV will be a part of a shared-services arrangement under a plan that included a number of television station acquisitions announced today.

News-Press & Gazette Company, which owns Santa Barbara-based KEYT, announced its plans to acquire Monterey-based KION-TV and KMUV-LP (Telemundo) as well as KKFX-CA in San Luis Obispo, from Cowles California Media Company.

The acquisitions are pending approval from the Federal Communications Commission.

KCOY will receive news, back office, engineering, and sales support services from News-Press & Gazette Company under the shared-services arrangement. General management, programming and sales management functions will continue to be managed by Cowles Media, according to a news release sent out on Monday.

The transactions are expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2013, according to the release.

News-Press & Gazette Company is a privately held and family-owned company headquartered in St. Joseph, Missouri. The company owns newspapers and operates television stations in 10 Midwestern and western markets.
