The first Friday of March marked the return of the 1st Friday Artisan Market at Hancock College which is getting off to a good start in 2015.

Local artisans, food vendors and businesses displayed their wares in the college's south parking lot. Green was the dominant color of the event with St. Patrick's Day on the horizon and vendors were raking in some cash.

"Each one has been growing. This will be our biggest one with 45 vendors and that number might be bigger by the end of the day," said Ann Cremarosa, a business teacher at the college whose students run the 1st Friday markets. "We have local vendors and staff along with student artisans, so its really an eclectic mix."

One of the growing groups of vendors is the cottage food industry. People who run food businesses from their homes are looking for places like Hancock's 1st Friday Artisan Markets to display their goods.

"This is a great venue for that," Cremarosa said.

The event also featured bounce houses for the children and live remote broadcasts from two local radio stations.
